How we use cookies

This page explains what cookies this website uses, what they do, and how to change your choice.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website saves on your device. Some are needed to make the site work. Others are used to count visitors and understand how the site is being used.

Cookies we use without asking

These are needed for the website to work properly, so they do not require your consent.

Cookies we only use if you accept

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people use. These cookies are only set if you press Accept on the banner. If you press Reject, or ignore the banner, they are never set.

We look at how many people visit, which pages they land on, whether they came from Google or Facebook, and how many people go through to our booking form. We use it to work out whether the website is doing its job.

We do not use analytics for advertising. Google Signals is turned off because we do not need signed-in-user association or cross-device behavioural reporting. The Analytics property is not linked to Google Ads unless that is separately approved, and advertising-related consent is kept denied. We do not sell or share your data with anyone for marketing. We do not try to identify you personally. Google Analytics does not log or store your individual IP address. For UK visitors, Google uses it temporarily to work out roughly where in the country you are, then discards it.

Who runs the analytics

The Google Analytics account for this website is set up and run by Castleberg Digital, who built the site and look after it. Milners receives a summary of the figures rather than the raw data. Google processes that data on Castleberg Digital’s behalf, and some of it is processed outside the UK, with safeguards in place under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long it is kept

Google deletes the underlying analytics data after 14 months.

Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. If you withdraw consent, the analytics cookies are deleted from your device and no further analytics data is collected.

You can also delete cookies through your browser settings, or use private browsing.

Cookies we do not use

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or social media tracking, and no third-party content embedded on this site sets cookies of its own.

Two things are worth being straight about. Reviewer profile pictures on our reviews page are served by Google, and our booking page opens an early connection to Jotform so the form loads faster when you click through. Neither sets a cookie, but both mean those companies see your device’s IP address, as happens with any image or link loaded from another website.
